You are going to have fun at Cass Winery. You can’t help but have fun at Cass. Owners and founders Steve Cass and Ted Plemons nearly guarantee it. They built the entire winery with that purpose in mind. At the corner of Linne Road and Geneseo Road on the East Side of Paso Robles, Cass is one of the few wineries to offer a full kitchen and restaurant on-premises as well as their own executive chef. Every tasting is a sit-down affair, which gives you time to socialize with your server and mingle with your other tasters. And watch out for the mannequin in the men’s room: it will make you jump every time.

But the real reason wine lovers from all over the world seek out the Cass Winery while in Paso Robles and keep coming back every trip is their stellar wines produced from estate grapes by their talented South African winemaker Lood Kotze. Planted by Steve Cass in 2000 on the seventy acre property, the focus of Cass wines is on Bordeaux and Rhone varietals, including exquisite white wines made from Viognier, Roussanne, and Marsanne, and complex, age-worthy reds of Grenache, Mourvedre, Syrah, Petite Sirah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Malbec. And of course, there are Cass’s flagship Rhone blends the Rockin’ One Red and the Rockin’ One White that are simply not to be missed. That is, unless you hate fun.
