Bon Niche Cellars

Founded by husband-and-wife vintners Wally and Joyce Murray in 2005, Bon Niche is located about as far northeast as you can get in Paso Robles, well north of Estrella Road on Hog Canyon. It’s an area so exclusive and remote that they don’t have their own tasting room, and pour their wines by appointment only amongst the barrels in their hilltop winemaking facility. But when you do make that appointment, and complete the trek to taste, you are in for something truly special.

Because of the rich, rocky soil and the acute slope of their land, Wally and Joyce called their estate “Bon Niche,” or “a very good place” in French and planted only three Bordeaux varietals – Malbec, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc – on their land, and instead sourced Viognier, Chardonnay, Zinfandel, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon from both neighboring vineyards and other Central Coast appellations to produce their sophisticated, silky Bon Niche Cellars wines. With some of the most beautiful label photography you’ve ever seen and alluring French names like Fenetres, Voyage, Escaliers, Chemin, Chaise, and Par la Mer, each bottle of Bon Niche Cellars wine is a first-class ticket to a luxury vacation destination around the world. Only with this trip, you do not even need to leave your house.
